Our QLD Award-Winning Historical Restoration
At Complete Design and Drafting, we specialise in the design & drafting for historical properties. Recently our team won two Qld state awards for our restoration of the iconic historical Sandgate house, Cremorne.
The Award-winning Cremorne project was a stunning restoration and renovation of a famous historical Sandgate home. Built-in the 1920’s this grand old home was once well known for its lavish garden parties. Since it’s glory days it had been sold and divided up into six flats. Our job was to transform an iconic heritage-listed home and restore it back to those ‘glory days’.
The challenge we faced with this project was to internally transform a set of run-down flats into a luxury family home. Our design was inspired by a traditional and modern style house concept while trying to maintain the show-stopping historical elements of the house.
On completion, some 1970’s extensions were removed but the rest of the outside of the house was left mostly unchanged. Unfortunately, little of the inside of the interior could be kept but the design keeps as much original Art Deco detail as possible with door knobs and cornices and a stunning Art Deco colour scheme and style that continues throughout the house, starting with a magnificent grand entryway.
This historic home now features open plan living to capture the beautiful coastal breezes and waterfront lifestyle, a beautiful open plan kitchen and living area, which flows out onto the huge deck facing the seaside. There are four bedrooms, and a fireplace, as well as spacious lawns outside and a sparkling in-ground pool.
